Hydraid is an energy-rich electrolyte preparation for correcting dehydration and weight loss associated with diarrhea in calves, and for restoring electrolyte balance.
Composition:
glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride
The composition of Hydraid meets the requirements for a good electrolyte preparation. Hydraid contains acetate, propionate and citrate as body-neutralizing substances.
Hydraid contains according to the recommendations:
Sodium (Na) 130 mmol/l
Potassium (K) 19 mmol/l
Chlorides (Cl) 61 mmol/l
Alkalizing capacity SID (strong ion difference) 91.
The product is used as follows:
Measure approx. 170 g of powder and mix with 2 liters of clean, lukewarm water.
The mixture is given to the calf through a drinking bucket, with a baby bottle or, if necessary, by tube feeding.
The electrolyte solution is given to the calf in 2 liters, twice a day (morning and evening) for two days.
On the third and on the fourth day, 1 liter of electrolyte solution and 1 liter of milk or milk replacer are given separately or mixed twice a day (morning and evening). Hydraid can also be mixed with milk.
After this, the calf's usual diet is continued.
In severe cases of diarrhea, the electrolyte solution can be administered 3-4 times a day for a maximum of 4 days. After the treatment period, the calf should be switched back to a normal diet.
In severe cases of diarrhea or if symptoms of the disease persist or reappear, a veterinarian should be contacted.
Feeding utensils should be cleaned between doses. The electrolyte solution should always be fresh and made with clean water.
NOTE
Hydraid is very hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs a lot of moisture, also from the air.
This property is important in terms of the product's functioning, but humidity can also cause problems with the product solidifying.
If the product seems solidified, remove the product (it is in a plastic bag in the jar) from the package and squeeze or tap the plastic bag gently, which will make the product flow again.
