DAILY BRUSHING IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO REMOVE PLAQUE. On days when you can't brush, remember to use Virbac Veggiedent Fr3sh treats to maintain good oral hygiene. The package includes an English-language guide to help you maintain your pet's oral hygiene.
There is no need to rinse your pet's mouth after brushing. Your veterinarian will advise you on the frequency of brushing your dog.
Basic instructions for starting to brush your dog's teeth:
-
Start dental care when the teeth and gums are healthy. If you suspect that your dog's teeth/gums are not in good condition, let your veterinarian start oral hygiene, and continue at home according to your veterinarian's instructions.
-
Choose a place where your dog feels safe. Take a small amount of toothpaste on your finger and let your dog get to know it. Most dogs like the taste of the paste.
-
Next time, apply the paste to your dog's teeth and gums. Once your dog is used to it, you can use a soft toothbrush designed for dogs.
-
Wet the brush and apply a small amount of paste to the brush. Let your dog get used to the brush too. Brush back and forth, not up and down, to avoid gum recession, and start brushing from the outside of the canines, working backwards to the outside of the molars.
-
When your dog cleans the inside of the teeth with their tongue, brushing the outside is usually sufficient to prevent plaque buildup. Brush the front teeth only after the dog has become accustomed to brushing.
Keep out of reach of children.
